Cubs

We have 2 Cub Scout packs in 1st Douglas – Cushag Pack is held on Mondays, and Tynwald Pack on Wednesdays during school term time.

All prepared for launch..

Martin Hazell (ACSL Cushag Pack) : February 23, 2015 2:43 pm : Cubs, Cushag Pack

Cushag pack cubs took on the challenge of finding out more about a key emergency service which was started in the Isle of Man.
The RNLI service was founded in the Isle of Man by Sir William Hillary – which is also the name of the boat we were shown round.

The pack leant all about the work of the lifeboat crew, including what to do in an emergency at sea, before they were taken in a tour around the boat. We were shown the controls off the boat, and discovered where the people being rescued would be held.
We rounded off the evening by holding an investiture on the stern of the lifeboat for our two newest members, Hollie and Raffey.

Cubs go Ape Mann…

Martin Hazell (ACSL Cushag Pack) : September 17, 2013 3:17 pm : Cubs, Cushag Pack

Last Monday the Cubs travelled far out into the wilderness of South Barrule to visit Ape Mann Adventure Park where we all experienced the thrills (and some spills) on the ropes.  Well done to all who took part – especially those who may now have overcome their fear of heights!

A big thanks to all the staff who made sure we were well looked after!

Cub Camp 2013

Martin Hazell (ACSL Cushag Pack) : June 21, 2013 8:38 pm : Cubs, Cushag Pack

This years cub Camp was held in what could be described as interesting weather.  Ranging from strong winds, to rain and even some sunshine!

Friday night started with a hike up to Albert Tower where the conditions could be described as “windy”.

The weather worsened that evening which forced the campfire to be held indoors (although not a real fire).  Through the night, the winds got more intense, until a few of the tents started taking off, like the rockets built the previous day.

Whilst some of the kids found this quite amusing, the leaders who were now tent-less and getting wet weren’t so keen!  As a result, we closed the camp early, forgoing the water sports (although we were all wet enough by this time!)

Everyone had a good camp, and a big thanks to the organising team!

The (nearly) winning team

The Cushag Superstars didn’t win but there were some great performances including some great saves from William (the Cat) W, a couple of brilliant strikes from Thomas C and an absolute screamer of a goal by Josh B which nearly got us back into our last match.  Gabriel N was our midfield supremo and Robert G was a rock in defence making some fantastic last-ditch tackles.  Well done to the whole team, who did remarkably well against some very good teams from other packs, under the watchful eye of head coach Robert’s Dad.
