Beaver 5-A-Side Football Tournament

After a very well-played tournament, in which they didn’t lose any of their matches, Monday Beavers have brought the shield back to 1st Douglas after 12 years!

Well done also to both Thursday Beaver teams who all played as if their lives depended on it! There was only a point between most of the teams after first place so it was a very close tournament indeed.

A big thank you to all the parents who helped on the day and to all those who delivered their children – we had a fantastic turnout.

Cushag Cubs on the hunt

Cushag Pack were using all of their tracking skills out on a treasure hunt around St Johns. Using their powers of deduction, they worked together as a team to search high and low for the clues!

Dear Parents / Guardians

We are holding our AGM and Family Fun Night on July 15^th at Douglas Rugby Club Port ee Chee Meadow. The evening will start at 7 p.m. The business of the 1^st Douglas Scout Group will take approximately 30 minutes.

The purpose of the AGM is to receive the reports from the 5 sections and from the Treasurer. We also elect the lay members for Executive committee at this meeting. The Executive Committee is very important to the Group as it allows the leaders to concentrate on the Scouting side of the Group. If you are interested in being nominated for our committee please get in touch with me at the above.

The remainder of the evening will be devoted to a family sports evening and barbecue. (Please inform your section leader or e-mail above if you are attending, for catering purposes). The club bar will also be open. If wet then we will be holding an indoor family quiz.

Entrance will 50p per person at the door (children must be accompanied by an adult) and burgers and hot dogs will be available to purchase during the evening.

Scouts Car Parking on Tynwald Day

1st Douglas were out and about this Tynwald Day parking cars out St Johns.

Everyone got a little bit wet, car parks not as busy, but all managed to recover for some very nice burgers at lunchtime!

Cushag Pack went for a night out to Tromode where the cubs tackled a mountainous blindfold trail, followed by a wide game.

Whats happening at Cushag Pask

(he following is to keep you up to date on what is happening in the next few weeks in the wonderful world of Cushag Pack (and beyond)

Monday 25th April – Cubs is on – Please meet at 6.30pm at St Georges Church, Douglas. Pick up same place at 7.45pm. Full uniform.
Saturday 30th April – Camelot Trip
Monday 2nd May – Possible visit to Castle Rushen and Old House of Keys – I need numbers for this as soon as possible to decide if it is feasible – We would most likely meet at 1pm and finish at approx. 4pm – Please e-mail or text me asap to let me know if your son would like to do this activity.
Sunday 8th May – 3 Legs Challenge part 2 – notes will be handed out on Monday 25th April with further details.
Friday 13th to Sunday 15th May – 1st Douglas Group Camp
TT week – over 10s – if you haven’t let me know about your attendance or otherwise please do asap.
Friday 24th to Sunday 26th June – Island Cub Camp – if you have been offered a place on this camp and haven’t let me know whether you will be going, can you please do so asap.

Start of term newsletters will be handed out at Cubs on 9th May as the leaders will not be meeting to sort out the summer programme until shortly before that date.
