Brighter First Douglas A Revue by the Members of the 1st Douglas Troop B.P. Boy Scouts Thursday 10th March, 1927, Gaiety Theatre, Douglas |
|
Recall your own Boyhood ! WHY NOT HELP THESE SCOUTS___________________OUR APPEAL The present Headquarters of teh 1st Douglas Scouts are not suitable for a large and growing Troop, and for some time we have been on the look-out for more convenient premises. We are offered a building (on long lease at a very nominal rental) which can be readily converted into a most comfortable home for our members, who now number between seventy to eighty. To make the necessary alterations to the building to fit it for our purposes will, we are advised, cost between £400 and £500 and we propose to raise the sum - BY ASKING - 100 Ladies and Gentlemen to become Life Patrons of the 1st Douglas Troop at a cost of Two Guineas each. 200 Ladies and Gentlemen to become Associate Subscribers by paying Half-a-guinea each. All old Scouts of the 1st Douglas (and there are some 500 or more of them) to subscribe sums of Half-a-Crown and upwards. Contributions however small will be gratefully accepted and duly acknowledged. We may mention that since the idea of a new Headquarters for the Troop took definite shape the Scouts themselves have been instrumental in raising by various means nearly £60, and it is hoped to considerably augment this by the Revue "Brighter First Douglas" which we are producing at the Gaiety Theatre on Thursday, March 10th.
